☆CHARACTER
Age: 5000+ years
Species: Gem
Canon: Steven Universe
Canon Point: After "Back to the Barn" and her robot fight with Peridot.
Character Info: Pearl on the Steven Universe Wikia
Personality:

Pearl defines herself by how successfully she is serving the Crystal Gems, and that has been her primary motivation for thousands of years. This arguably is a manifestation of her love for Rose Quartz, the former leader of the Crystal Gems, but the rebellious band of heroes that fought a 1000-year war to protect Earth from a Gem invasion also provided her the freedom to perform any role she chose.
On Homeworld, the fact that she is a pearl would have meant a life of service to a more important gem; in Peridot’s words, pearls are “made-to-order servants” created to “stand around and look nice and hold your stuff for you.” Other pearls we have seen mainly act as secretaries, staying close to the gems they served and essentially only practicing any decision making skills when deciding whether or not to let someone speak to their ruling gem. Pearl still lives to serve, but instead of the rigid secretarial role she would have had on Homeworld, she’s allowed to serve the Crystal Gems as a warrior, a technician, and eventually a caregiver for Steven. Whether this is a result of a directive embedded in her making as a pearl or just how she expresses her friendship and love, Pearl believes her duty to the Crystal Gems and to Rose Quartz specifically trumps any instinct of self-preservation.
Pearl’s first impression is that of someone who is fairly rigid and controlled. She’s the type that doesn’t like to have a hair out of place, and she can be a perfectionist to a point that can be grating on the people around her. She prides herself at being good at things and doing them the right way, and can be gently condescending or patronizing if someone’s doing something the wrong way, but only if it’s in a context where it affects her or she can’t help but comment on it. She enjoys cleanliness; when the Gems attempted to split up household tasks on a chore wheel, she scratched out everyone else’s name and wrote her own in all four spaces.
Still, she is optimistic and caring and always excited to learn. Even when she’s being critical, she tries to be gentle about it, and usually her condescension comes from her trying to impart some appreciation for the correct way to do something rather than enjoying the act of telling someone they’re wrong. She puts her all into every task she’s given, taking on challenges with unsurpassed glee, occasionally getting overexcited and subsequently embarrassed by her own giddiness.
Her sentimental attachment is not to the Earth itself, nor does she show any real interest in becoming more familiar with human life outside of where Steven is concerned. In fact, she consistently rebuffs any attempts to engage in human traditions or activities unless it has to do with making Steven happy. Her heart totally belongs with the Crystal Gems, and if not for the memories and new familial ties to Earth she probably would be happy to leave.
In summary, Pearl is the most proper and disciplined of all the Crystal Gems, but her desire to serve the team also makes her a fierce warrior and insatiable learner. She can be overbearing, but it only comes from the deep love she feels for the people she fought with for a millenium and now for Steven, who she sees partly as a manifestation of Rose Quartz’s love for Earth. She’s eager to please but doesn’t like being boxed in, and she is genuinely kind when you get down to it. Despite the self-worth she has fought for in trying to avoid the prescripted life laid out for pearls by Homeworld, she still puts everyone ahead of herself and will fight tooth and nail for the ones she loves.
☆INTERSTELLAR
Weapon Summoning (Moderate):As a gem, Pearl has the ability to summon a weapon of her choice, created from the same light as her body. This power is tied to the health of her gem, so theoretically if it were cracked or broken (though not enough to kill her entirely), she would not be able to summon a weapon or use any other powers that require energy from the gem other than maintaining her form.
Her current weapon is a spear, and functionally it just like any other spear. She has also been known to summon a sword in the past.
Combat Projections (Moderate):Pearl can also use her gem to summon hard light projections capable of performing in combat. These projections take her form and are translucent blue, so they're easily identifiable apart from her. They possess her combat skills but do not possess any reasoning skills - Pearl has to identify who they should attack or not attack, and once they're in battle with an opponent they don't give up unless they're destroyed or they destroy the opponent.
For the sake of being reasonable, we'll put a cap of five projections at once and they can't travel farther than about fifty yards away before they get weak and garbled and start to fade. She has to be conscious for the projections to exist, as opposed to canon where they apparently can exist independently for at least two weeks.

Relevant Skills:
SwordsmanshipPearl has shown herself to be an excellent swordswoman. She has a lot of respect for the art of combat and much of her combat style comes from fencing. She is swift and decisive, making up for her relatively small form compared to other gems that were made to fight.
EngineeringPearl is a proficient mechanic and takes an interest in how things work. This could be a carry-over from her previous time as a servant, as she would have had to carry out mainly secretarial tasks for whichever gem she served and that may have included knowing how to use any of the interfaces they would have used on homeworld. However, Pearl has also shown an interest in getting to know the technical engineering used on Earth and gets excited at the prospect of building things. One time she built a space ship from scrap parts that nearly made it past Earth's atmosphere.
Character Goals:
Pearl is here to save Steven and Garnet.
She will also save Greg.If she has to.
